Express Entry Trends in 2026

So far, IRCC has conducted 39 Express Entry draws in 2026, with a strong emphasis on candidates already contributing to Canada’s labour market.

The majority of invitations have gone to applicants under:

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • French-language proficiency
  • Healthcare and social services occupations
  • Physicians with Canadian work experience
  • Senior Managers with Canadian work experience
  • Skilled Trades

This approach reflects Canada’s ongoing strategy of selecting candidates who can integrate quickly into the country’s economy and address labour shortages.

What This Means for Express Entry Candidates

Receiving a provincial nomination remains one of the strongest ways to improve your chances of obtaining Canadian permanent residence. A provincial nomination provides a significant boost to an Express Entry profile, making candidates highly competitive in PNP-specific draws.

Candidates who have not yet received a provincial nomination should continue improving their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score through factors such as Canadian work experience, language test results, education, or by becoming eligible for a provincial immigration stream.

With regular Express Entry draws continuing throughout the year, eligible candidates should keep their profiles updated and monitor upcoming invitation rounds.
