By early 2024, IRCC anticipates that Visa application from India will get back to its normal speed as said by Immigration Minister Marc Miller
Indian Visa Processing On October 19th, During a Press conference , the Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller stated that ongoing issues between Canada and India will make processing times for Visa applications for people from India. It means that the problems occurred between India and Canada are making it slower and harder for Indians to get Visas to enter Canada, which might cause delays and trouble for those who want to visit Canada. If you are thinking about how to get PR in Canada from India then this is the best time to apply for permanent residency.
Canadian Immigration Marc Miller stressed that people coming from India are important to Canada, and the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada ( IRCC ) will still be happy and excited to welcome them.
When will Visa processing return to normal?
Senior officials from the IRCC, who have informed Canadian Stakeholders which anticipate that a decrease in Staff in India will result in a backlog of 17,500 decisions with final call within Canada’s global immigration system over two months. The aim of the government is to regulate regular resume processing by early months of 2024. The goal was achieved by 22 staff members of Immigration department who were relocated from India returning to their duties in the Philippines and Canada.Philippines and Canada are one of the best places to live in the world.
The reason of Visa application processing in a slower way
By October 20th, 2023, India has decided to take away special protections from most Canadian diplomats and their family members living in New Delhi. Only 21 Canadian diplomats will keep these protections. This means that 41 Canadian diplomats and 42 of their family members are now at risk of losing their special rights. It is a big deal for the affected Canadian diplomats and their families because they might lose their special privileges and rights that usually come with being a diplomat in India.
What operations will be influenced ?
The IRCC has made an important announcement. They are temporarily all in person services at their Consulates until they give further notice. But, the good news is that they will still accept and process applications from people in India. Some parts of the application process will need to be done locally or on-site in a secular place.
They had to reduce their tram in India from 27 people to only 5 people . This means that the quality and speed and quality for service in India might not be as good as before. The smaller tem that’s left in India will focus on things that need to be done in the country, like handling urgent cases, printing visas, checking for risks, and supervising important partners like visa application centers and medical clinics that do health check-ups by immigration officers. The rest of the work and staff will be moved to IRCC’S worldwide processing network.
But, don’t worry too much because the IRCC is hopeful that things will go back to normal for visa operations in India by early next year.
Impact on Visa Application Centres
To make things smoother despite having fewer people in India, IRCC is adjusting how Visa Application Centres (VACs) handle most applications from India. In simple terms, they’re working with the VACs to improve the way they process the increasing number of applications from India because there are fewer staff members in India. This is part of their plan to handle the situation and ensure visa applications go more smoothly.
Visa Application Centres are run by other organizations, so they will keep working as they usually do. People applying for visas can still get help with paperwork, send their passports, and provide biometric data at one of the ten centers run by IRCC in India.
