Prince Edward Island conducted its first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of 2026 on January 15, following its planned Invitation to Apply (ITA) schedule.
The province focused on candidates with strong ties to Prince Edward Island, giving priority to international student graduates from selected designated learning institutions (DLIs).
PEI PNP draw results
In this draw, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued 26 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates already living and working in the province.
Invitations were issued under the following immigration categories:
- Labour Impact
- PEI Express Entry
The Labour Impact category includes the Skilled Worker Stream, Critical Worker Stream, and International Graduate Stream.
The draw mainly targeted individuals working in priority sectors that have a high economic impact in Prince Edward Island. These priority sectors remain unchanged for 2026 and include healthcare, skilled trades, and manufacturing.
Among the selected candidates, additional preference was given to international graduates from the following institutions:
- University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
- Holland College
- Collège de l’Île
This selection approach mirrors PEI’s immigration strategy from 2025, where similar criteria were used in most draws. The province is expected to continue prioritizing in-province workers and international graduates throughout 2026.
For comparison, PEI’s first draw of 2025 issued 22 invitations, primarily to candidates working in the healthcare sector or holding confirmed job offers in the province.
Upcoming PEI PNP draws in 2026
If Prince Edward Island follows its expected schedule, upcoming draws are likely to be held on February 19, March 19, and April 16.
However, the province has stated that these dates are tentative and may change. Draws could take place earlier, later, or in addition to the listed dates. In 2025, PEI followed its announced schedule for most draws, making a similar pattern likely in 2026.
How to apply for upcoming PEI PNP draws
To be considered for future PEI PNP draws, candidates must first create an account on Prince Edward Island’s official immigration website and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
Candidates are ranked based on factors such as:
- English or French language proficiency
- Education level and field of study
- Work experience in high-demand occupations
- Alignment with PEI’s labour market needs
- Employment prospects, including valid job offers or Canadian work experience
Candidates with higher EOI scores and strong settlement potential have better chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply.
