  • A CSR Score of 67 points (based on age, work experience, education, language proficiency, and adaptability
  • The profile must be already in the Express Entry pool
  • Candidate must have a job seeker code and profile must be part of the job bank (in case he or she has no job offer)
  • The candidate’s National Occupational Classification must be part of the demand list at the specific period
  • The applicant must have at least one year of domain experience during the past 10 years of application
  • The applicant must have an education level of Canadian high school or equivalent
  • The applicant must have language proficiency in English or French at CLB 7
  • The candidate must be backed with sufficient settlement funds

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry

This stream considers people with high skills who desire to live in Nova Scotia on a permanent basis. Candidates must possess no less than one year of experience working in a highly skilled occupation in the province.

To apply under the Critical Impact Worker category the candidate is required to:

  • Have one year of work experience in the Nova Scotia province
  • Have a high school qualification or equivalent in Canada
  • Be 21 to 55 years old
  • Have a registered profile in IRCC’s Express Entry Program
  • Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French at Canadian Language Benchmark 7 for NOC 0 and A, and Canadian Language Benchmark 5 for NOC B.

Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities

Candidates who meet labour market demands of Nova Scotia are chosen under this stream. Only those candidates are likely to apply under this stream by receiving a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Immigration Office.

To apply under the Nova Scotia Labour Market category the candidate is required to:

  • Meet the eligibility criteria at the time when the Letter of Interest is issued
  • Have minimum work experience the respective Express Entry Program needs
  • Have legal status in their own country
  • Display enough financial capability for settling in Nova Scotia successfully with your family along with expenses with regard to immigration and travel
  • Receive the Nova Scotia Immigration Program Letter of Interest within the Express Entry Program

Physician

The Physician Stream supports the Public Health Authorities of Nova Scotia in hiring expert physicians, family physicians, and general practitioners to work in the province. The streams help the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK) in hiring and retaining the Physicians having the targeted skills, which they have not been able to fill with the citizen or permanent residents of Canada.

  • The physician stream is only open to expert physicians, family physicians, and general practitioners who have signed and approved opportunities with NSHA or IWK Health Centre.
  • Be on the NSHA or IWK official letterhead
  • Be dated and signed by the applicant who desires to accept the opportunity
  • Show the eligibility of the applicant to seek credentials and privileges with NSHA or IWK
  • Be dated and signed by an authorized person having the authority over hiring physicians at NSHA or IWK
  • Allocate licensure eligibility with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia

Entrepreneur

Senior business managers or experienced business owners desiring to reside in Nova Scotia are likely to apply under the Entrepreneur Stream. They are required to buy an existing business or play an active role in day-to-day management or must start their own new business. The entrepreneur is likely to be nominated for PR (permanent resident) status after successfully running the business for a year. Kindly note application to Entrepreneur Stream is by invitation only.

To apply under the Entrepreneur Stream, the candidate is required to:

  • Be no less than 21 years of age or above
  • Have a net worth of no less than $600,000 CAD
  • Score no less than 5 on the Canadian Language Benchmark in either English or French
  • Fill online Expression of Interest
  • Show interest in permanently living in Nova Scotia while enthusiastically handling and owning a business in Nova Scotia
  • Receive application invitation from the Immigration Office of the province
  • Be able to set up a Nova Scotia business with a minimum of $150,000 CAD
  • Have a minimum experience of 3 years in owning and dynamically controlling a business with 1/3 ownership or an experience of more than 5 years as a senior business management

International Graduate Entrepreneur

Individuals who have recently from Community College or University in Nova Scotia can apply under the International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream. Applicants with keen interest must have either bought a business in the province or must have run it for no less than a year. They are likely to be nominated for permanent residence in case they wish to permanently live in Nova Scotia. Kindly note application to International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is by invitation only.

To apply under this stream, the candidate is required to:

  • Ready to permanently settle in Nova Scotia while actively handling and owning a business in the province.
  • Receive an invitation from the Immigration Office of the province to apply for the same
  • Have a valid post-graduation work permit
  • Have experience of no less than one year in actively running and owning a Nova Scotia business
  • Fill online Expression of Interest
  • Score no less than 7 on the Canadian Language Benchmark in either English or French
  • Nova Scotia business with 100% ownership
  • Have a completed diploma or degree of no less than 2 academic years of full-time and in-person study at a University or Community College in Nova Scotia.

Skilled Worker

Employers, with the help of the Skilled Worker Stream, can hire recently graduated international students and foreign workers having the skills, which are in great demand in Nova Scotia. Employers can recruit for only those positions which they have not been able to fill with citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

To apply under the Skilled Worker Category, the candidate must:

  • Have an offer from an employer in Nova Scotia for a full-time permanent job
  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have adequate financial resources for settling in the Nova Scotia province successfully
  • Not be under 21 to 51 years of age
  • Have the skills, training, and accreditation for the job
  • Have 1 year of work experience as a minimum related to the job. Low-skilled or semi-skilled workers are required to already have six months of experience with the employer
  • Demonstrate language proficiency, which is equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark 5 for skilled workers and Canadian Language Benchmark 4 for semi-skilled or low-skilled workers
