IRCC invited 500 French speaking candidates in the latest Express Entry draw. 472 was the cut-off Comprehensive Ranking System score.
3000 Candidates Were Invited in the Latest Express Entry Draw in which a cut-off score of 504 was required. In an all-program draw, candidates are considered from each of the three Express Entry programs.
What is Category-Based Selection?
Some draws were held by IRCC based on specific attributes of the candidates rather than their overall CRS score. As there was a change to the Immigration, Refugees and Protection Act (IRPA) in 2022, the introduction of categories was expected to take place this year because of this, the immigration minister has the authority to select Express Entry candidates who are likely to help Canada meet its mandate to promote the French language outside of Quebec and strengthen the economy of Canada.
Six new Express Entry categories were created for in-demand occupations and newcomers with strong French language abilities. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professions, trades, healthcare, transport, agriculture, and agri-food are the 5 occupation categories.
Since the first category-based draw for healthcare workers on June 28, draws were held by IRCC in each of these categories except for agriculture and agri-food. The highest number of category-based ITAs (6,900) were issued to Candidates who can speak French fluently.
If candidates wish to immigrate to Canada through category-based selection, they must be in the Express Entry pool and meet a minimum CRS score.
What is Express Entry?
A Comprehensive Ranking System is used to evaluate each of the Express Entry programs, namely, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canada Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and rank candidates according to the specific human capital factors such as occupation, work experience, age, education, and language ability.
Candidates who obtain the highest overall scores are the most likely to receive an invitation to apply in an upcoming Express Entry draw and each attribute has a specific point value. Each program has a different Canadian language benchmark whether it’s FSTP or FSWP. Eligibility depends upon what kind of program are you choosing.
