On December 10, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) conducted a new Skills Immigration draw, inviting candidates who can make a strong economic contribution to the province.
In this draw, 410 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued across British Columbia’s Skills Immigration streams. Candidates were selected either based on their provincial points score or their ability to secure high-paying skilled employment in British Columbia.
The majority of invitations were issued to candidates with higher scores in the Skills Immigration pool.
Draw highlights
- High-wage skilled job offer category: 96 candidates received invitations after securing a job offer in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 with a minimum wage of $87 per hour (approximately $170,000 per year).
- Points-based category: 314 invitations were issued to candidates with a minimum score of 138 points.
The BC PNP has clarified that future high economic impact draws may focus on different factors, and only eligible registrations submitted before the draw date are considered.
This was British Columbia’s first Skills Immigration draw after a gap of more than two months, with the previous draw held on October 2. So far, the province has conducted only three Skills Immigration draws this year, highlighting a selective and targeted approach.
Current BC PNP pool status
As of December 2, there are 11,083 candidates registered in the BC PNP Skills Immigration pool. Nearly 50% of candidates have a score of 100 points or below, showing strong competition and the importance of a well-prepared application.
How BC selects high economic impact candidates
Under the Skills Immigration system, British Columbia prioritizes candidates who best match its labour market needs. Selection factors may include education, language skills, work experience, occupation, wage level, job offer skill level, regional settlement plans, and strategic provincial priorities.
