Canada Continues Focus on In-Canada Candidates
The latest draw reflects Canada’s ongoing strategy of prioritizing candidates who already have Canadian work experience. Throughout 2026, the majority of Express Entry draws have targeted Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates, reinforcing the government’s efforts to transition temporary residents to permanent residents.
So far this year, IRCC has held 32 Express Entry draws across various categories, including CEC, PNP, French-language proficiency, healthcare and social services, physicians, trades occupations, and senior management roles.
More Than 84,000 Invitations Issued in 2026
IRCC has issued a total of 84,796 Invitations to Apply through Express Entry in 2026.
Canadian Experience Class candidates have received the highest share of invitations, with 41,250 ITAs issued so far this year. French-language proficiency candidates follow with 30,500 invitations, while Provincial Nominee Program applicants have received 5,405 invitations.
The continued emphasis on Canadian Experience Class draws highlights the importance of Canadian work experience in Canada’s immigration strategy and provides a significant pathway to permanent residence for skilled workers already contributing to the country’s economy.
