IRCC Invites 800 Candidates in French Language Express Entry Draw

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its most recent Express Entry draw; it released 800 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for candidates who have proven proficiency in French. It is required that the candidate would have had at least a CRS score of 478 to receive this draw.

Express Entry Recent Draws Schedules

This is the third Express Entry draw so far this week. Last week’s earlier draw under the CEC program had targeted the 400 candidates.

Also today, the third draw in November, comes the day following an announcement of the Immigration Levels Plan for the upcoming calendar year. Under that plan, IRCC will admit 124,680 candidates from the Express Entry pool in 2024.

Admissions Targets and Focus Areas

Today’s successful candidates will account for part of the count toward next year’s immigration targets. They may be processed through the new In-Canada Focus category for Express Entry or the Federal Economic Priorities category.

• In-Canada Focus: This target for permanent residents would be 82,980 and is intended to help temporary residents who are already residing in Canada. It’s projected as accounting for around 40% of economic admissions, largely from the Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program.

• Federal Economic Priorities: At 41,700 permanent resident admissions, this class will focus on applicants from Express Entry programs who are required to meet pressing labor market needs in health care, in the trades, or who speak French outside of Quebec.

Express Entry is Canada’s online application management system for three leading economic immigration programs:

• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
• Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

The candidates in these streams are ranked through CRS based on a tremendous number of criteria such as the candidate’s age and language proficiency, education, etc. One can accumulate additional points for having a:

Best PNP streams can boost a candidate’s CRS score by as high as 600 points, effectively assuring him an ITA in the next draw.

CRS and Selection Process

CRS scores delineate the status of who gets ITAs in draws. For example, candidates with the highest score are most likely to receive invitations for those eligible in the case of that particular category of the draw.

This week’s activity puts emphasis on the fact that Canada continues to pursue its strategy of meeting labor market needs and furthering diversity through economic immigration programs.
