What is the Express Entry System?
The Express Entry system is the main way for Canada to manage applications for permanent residence under these three federal economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Candidates who are eligible for any of these programs include the Express Entry pool, wherein they are ranked depending on the Comprehensive Ranking System score. Factors considered in the CRS score include age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other additional factors. The highest-ranking candidates will be invited to apply for permanent residence by IRCC in frequent draws.
Latest Draw Details
The new invitations from the IRCC in this round went to all the candidates who had a CRS score of 690 and above in Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). A good number of invitations coming back reciprocates Canada’s well-reputed openness to welcoming skilled workers who are economically contributing factors to its diversified economy and rich cultural heritage.
How the Express Entry Draw Process Works
It all begins as candidates make an Express Entry profile, which is added to the pool; the profiles are then ranked according to the CRS score. For any draw, IRCC selects the highest-ranked candidates from the pool and issues ITAs to those candidates. Upon receiving an ITA, candidates have to submit a complete application for permanent residence.
The draws are competitive, and only the very top candidates in the pool receive invitations. However, all people who do not receive an ITA in one draw could remain in the pool for up to a year and could be selected in future draws if their CRS score improves or if the cut-off decreases.
TIPS FOR IMPROVING YOUR CRS SCORE
So, do not lose hope if your CRS score is below the threshold in the latest draw. There remain a number of possibilities where you can improve your score. These include:
- Enhancing Language Proficiency: Higher scores in the language test, be it IELTS or CELPIP, greatly benefit the candidate in the CRS profile.
- Work Experience: A skilled occupation and more work experience will greatly profit the score.
- Education: Higher education levels, such as a master’s degree, can add more valuable points.
- Get a Job Offer: A valid job offer from a Canadian employer can add points.
- Apply for Provincial Nominee Programs: Many provinces have immigration streams of their own that are aligned with Express Entry. If a province nominates one, this could bring 600 points into the final CRS score, one which would practically guarantee an ITA.
The Impact of the Latest Draw
The issuance of 763 ITAs showcases Canada’s continuous effort in journeying toward achieving its goals on immigration and filling labor gaps in markets. Now, as the economy in Canada is recovering from the impacts of the pandemic, skilled immigrants are needed more than ever to fill up gaps in healthcare settings, technologies, and trades. In case you belong to one of the 763 candidates receiving an ITA in this draw, receive congratulations; you are one step closer to becoming a permanent resident in Canada. Well, be sure that you prepare and submit your application quickly and correctly, in order not to delay or be refused.
