Manitoba issues over 900 invitations in biggest MPNP draw of 2026

Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program conducted its largest selection round of the year on May 7, inviting more than 900 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

The latest draw focused heavily on education-related occupations and candidates selected through strategic recruitment initiatives. This was the province’s ninth draw of 2026 under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).

A total of 906 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued through Manitoba’s Skilled Worker Stream, which includes:

• Skilled Worker in Manitoba; and
• Skilled Worker Overseas.

The draw was divided into two major selection categories:

Out of all invitations issued, 326 candidates also had valid Express Entry profiles and job seeker validation codes.

Strategic recruitment invitations dominate draw

More than half of all invitations were issued to candidates selected through Manitoba’s strategic recruitment initiatives.

The majority of these invitations went to applicants holding special work permits issued under Manitoba’s temporary public policy for prospective provincial nominee candidates.

Distribution of invitations under strategic recruitment initiatives included:

• Temporary Public Policy (TPP): 429
• Employer Services: 29
• Ethnocultural Communities: 7
• Francophone Community: 7
• Regional Communities: 3

The strong focus on TPP candidates follows Manitoba’s earlier announcement confirming plans to prioritize individuals who received provincial work permit support letters under the temporary policy.

Manitoba targets education workers

Under the occupation-specific category, Manitoba invited 431 candidates currently living and working in the province in education-related occupations.

Eligible occupations included:

• Early childhood educators and assistants
• Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants
• Elementary school and kindergarten teachers
• Secondary school teachers

Candidates were required to meet all Skilled Worker in Manitoba criteria and confirm active employment in education occupations in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.

The province also clarified that candidates under the International Education Stream were not considered in this draw.

Manitoba nomination trends in 2026

Manitoba’s nomination allocation for 2026 stands at 6,239 spots.

From January to March 2026, the province issued the following nominations:

• January: 484
• February: 425
• March: 389

During the same period, Manitoba drew:

• 102 EOIs in January
• 101 EOIs in February
• 60 EOIs in March

The province also reported a gradual decline in applications pending assessment, falling from 2,605 in January to 2,030 by March.
