The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) invited a total of 1,125 candidates to apply for provincial nomination last week through two separate draws. Invitations were issued based on a combination of factors, including candidates’ ties to Alberta, their ranking within the AAIP scoring system, and work experience in priority healthcare occupations.
Draw summary: November 10–14
The AAIP conducted two draws under different streams, each with distinct cut-off scores and invitation numbers:
| Date | Stream | Invitations Issued | Minimum Score |
| November 10, 2025 | Alberta Opportunity Stream | 1,045 | 55 |
| November 14, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Health Care) | 80 | 52 |
The November 10 draw was the AAIP’s second-largest selection of the year and the biggest since September 12, when 1,113 candidates received invitations.
Alberta Opportunity Stream update
The Alberta Opportunity Stream remains the largest pathway under the AAIP for temporary foreign workers already living and working full-time in the province. Eligible applicants must have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an approved occupation, hold a valid work permit, and meet minimum qualifications across areas such as language ability, education, Alberta work experience, and residency.
The stream has the highest nomination allocation among all AAIP programs, offering 3,656 nomination spots for the year. As of November 19, Alberta has issued 3,120 nominations, leaving 536 spots available. Another 1,100 applications are currently awaiting processing in the stream’s inventory.
Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors
On November 14, the AAIP held a second draw of the year targeting priority healthcare sectors under the Alberta Express Entry Stream. So far, 494 nominations have been issued through priority sector draws in 2025, out of a total allocation of 660 spots.
As an enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream, the Express Entry alignment allows the AAIP to nominate eligible candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool. This pathway includes dedicated routes for professionals working in Alberta’s high-demand sectors, including healthcare, construction, aviation, and agriculture, along with specialized pathways for law enforcement and technology workers.
Increased nomination capacity for 2025
Alberta recently received an expanded provincial nomination allocation for 2025 from the federal government. The province’s cap has increased from 4,875 to 6,603 spots, an addition of 1,728 nominations. With this increase, Alberta has regained approximately 67% of the 9,750 nomination spots available in 2024 before the cuts.
Officials also confirmed that these extra spots will not roll over into 2026, indicating that the AAIP will aim to maximize its increased nomination capacity across additional draws before the end of the year.
