Once a person arrives in Portugal then he or she can proceed to apply for a two year residence permit. You can extend the residence permit by three years thereby completing your five years in Portugal which then makes you eligible for citizenship. Those who follow this route can bring in their family members as well. It is best for non EU/EEA remote workers or freelancers who want permanent residence in Portugal.
