Australia introducing major changes to its rules.
The rules, it appears are going to create a lot of problems particularly for Indians. Australian Home Minister Clare O’Neill has said that these rules would partially reduce pressure on the property market. On September 30, 2023, the immigration to Australia witnessed an increase of 60 per cent to 5,48,800. It will no longer allow permission for onshore student visas for temporary graduate visa holders and guest visa holders from July 1. As a matter of fact, many Indians reach Australia through “thief door.”
1. Now, the cost of one-way Visa has been hiked from rupees 40,000 to 90,000. We have seen the processing visa price to Australia almost rise 100 per cent. It has more than increased by 125 per cent. This charge was about Rs 39,546 earlier; now, it is at Rs 89,118.
2. Students should save more in new visa regulations, raise the amount of funds a student is required to have to gain entry into Australia. Also, the students are required to show more funds in comparison to what they used to have in order to afford livelihoods here in Australia that will be equivalent to the 75% of the country’s minimum wage. This was a requirement by the Australian government. Proof has been needed for international students who come to study in Australia that they have not less than Rs.16,29,964 saved. According to the government, this is necessary to enable them to deduct expenses considered mandatory for a student during his/her education in Australia. These changes had been done from May 10; till July 1, however, with other changes, it is implemented fully.
3. A very challenging English test Infact, high marks in the English proficiency test are a precondition of the visa to Australia. This is because the temporary graduate visa calls for a minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS as opposed to 6.0 as it was earlier. The applicants should manage to score a minimum of 6.0 in the test in case they intend to apply for this particular visa. The government restricts students from developing ways and means of extending their visas.
