The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted its first immigration draw of April on April 9, 2026, issuing invitations to skilled foreign workers under its Skilled Worker Stream.
In this latest round, candidates were selected through both pathways Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas provided they had been directly invited by the province under a strategic recruitment initiative.
Key Highlights of the Draw
A total of 32 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued in this draw, marking a lower intake compared to previous rounds.
- 8 candidates had valid Express Entry profiles along with job seeker validation codes
- This draw represents a 30% decrease compared to the March 12 draw, where 46 candidates were invited
- So far in 2026, Manitoba has issued 281 LAAs
Invitations by Recruitment Initiative
The majority of invitations were issued under targeted recruitment efforts. Distribution is as follows:
- Employer Services – 10 invitations
- Francophone Community – 7 invitations
- Ethnocultural Communities – 5 invitations
- Regional Communities – 5 invitations
- Temporary Public Policy (TPP) – 5 invitations
Employer Services accounted for the largest share, contributing nearly one-third of all invitations.
Why Some Candidates May Not Have Received an Invitation
Even if candidates meet eligibility criteria, they may not receive an LAA due to common errors such as:
- Missing or invalid language test numbers
- Expired English/French test results
- Incorrect or invalid strategic recruitment invitation numbers
Candidates are advised to carefully update their Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles to improve their chances in upcoming draws.
Understanding Strategic Recruitment Initiatives
Manitoba regularly conducts international recruitment missions in partnership with local employers. These initiatives help connect skilled foreign workers with job opportunities in the province.
Selected candidates may receive direct invitations after participating in such programs, provided they meet all eligibility requirements.
What Are Exploratory Visits?
Exploratory visits allow potential immigrants to travel to Manitoba for a short period to assess settlement opportunities.
During the visit, candidates can:
- Explore job markets and communities
- Meet employers and industry representatives
- Research housing, education, and lifestyle options
Additionally, Manitoba officials may conduct interviews during these visits. However, it is important to note that only a formal invitation not the visit itself qualifies candidates to apply under the MPNP.
