IRCC Invites More PNP Candidates Through Express Entry

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued a fresh round of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates in the Express Entry pool.

In the latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, 725 ITAs were sent out. Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 667 and must have created their Express Entry profile before 6:25 pm UTC on June 5, 2024, to qualify for this draw.

This marks the first draw of the month, following a series of draws in February, including one for French-language proficiency, two for PNP candidates, and two for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). February saw over 11,000 ITAs issued, making it a busy period for Canada’s Express Entry system. So far in 2025, draws have mainly focused on PNP and CEC candidates, with only one category-based selection draw this year.

Overview of Express Entry

Express Entry is a system that manages three of Canada’s main economic immigration programs:

• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
• Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

Newcomers eligible for one of these programs must submit a profile to be entered into the Express Entry pool. They are then assigned a CRS score based on factors like skills, work experience, and language abilities. Candidates with higher CRS scores have a better chance of receiving an ITA.

Once an ITA is issued, candidates have 60 days to submit a complete permanent residence (PR) application, including additional documents like police clearance certificates and proof of funds, depending on the individual’s circumstances. After the PR application is submitted, IRCC aims to process it within six months. If successful, applicants can receive PR status and must land in Canada to finalize the process.

Documents Required for an ITA Application:

If you receive an ITA and decide to apply for permanent residence (PR), you’ll need to submit several key documents, including:

• Valid passport
• Birth certificate
• Language test results
• Proof of work experience
• Police clearance certificates (for any place you’ve lived over 6 months since age 18)
• Immigration Medical Exam receipt (if required)
• Regulation-sized photos of yourself and accompanying family members

Depending on your profile and the program you apply through, additional documents may be necessary, such as:

• Canadian education credential or Education Credential Assessment (ECA)
• Attestation letter or official academic transcripts
• Job offer letter from a Canadian employer
• Proof of family ties in Canada
• Proof of settlement funds
• Legal documents for name or birth date changes
• Marriage, divorce, annulment, or death certificates
• Adoption papers
• Certificate of qualification for skilled trades (issued by a Canadian authority)
• Work contracts, pay stubs, or tax documents
