Alberta continues to strengthen its workforce by inviting skilled professionals through targeted provincial immigration draws.
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted seven immigration draws between May 20 and June 2, 2026, issuing a total of 1,550 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination. The latest selection rounds targeted candidates working in key sectors facing labour shortages, including technology, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, healthcare, and hospitality.
These draws form part of Alberta’s ongoing strategy to attract skilled workers who can contribute to the province’s economic growth and address workforce demands across critical industries.
Alberta Opportunity Stream Leads Invitations
Among the various AAIP pathways, the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) received the largest share of invitations, accounting for more than 64% of all invitations issued during the latest draw period.
Several of the draws were among the largest conducted under their respective pathways in 2026, including:
- Accelerated Tech Pathway draw on May 29
- Alberta Opportunity Stream draw on May 27
- Agriculture-focused Priority Sector draw on May 22
- Manufacturing-focused Priority Sector draw on May 21
Notably, Alberta also conducted its first-ever dedicated draw for skilled trades professionals in the construction sector on May 20, highlighting the province’s growing demand for workers in infrastructure and development projects.
