The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has once again extended invitations to candidates aiming for provincial immigration, this time through four of its specialized pathways.
These invitations were sent to candidates whose work experience aligns with Alberta’s key labour market needs, helping to address important workforce shortages across various sectors of the province’s economy.
In total, 165 invitations were issued across multiple draws held during this period.
Overview of AAIP Draws Conducted from April 11 to April 22
Between April 11 and April 22, the AAIP carried out several draws under different streams, each with varying numbers of invitations and unique cut-off scores:

22 April, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway | 71 | 22 |
17 April, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway | 49 | 2 |
15 April, 2025 | Tourism and Hospitality Stream | 73 | 33 |

A few highlights from these draws include:
- The first selection of the year under the Tourism and Hospitality stream.
- Only the second rounds of invitations for 2025 under both the Accelerated Tech Pathway and the Law Enforcement Pathway.
- The draw conducted on April 11 marked the first general draw under the Alberta Opportunity Stream in 2025, after previous draws had specifically targeted professionals from the aviation and construction sectors.
Additionally, the AAIP’s official website provides up-to-date details for each immigration stream, such as:
- The number of nomination spaces still available,
- The current pool of Expressions of Interest (EOIs),
- The volume of applications yet to be processed.
This transparent reporting helps candidates better understand their chances and timelines for receiving an invitation. See this below table:

Understanding Invitations and Nominations in PNPs Like the AAIP
It’s important to understand the distinction between an invitation and a nomination when it comes to Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) like the AAIP.
1. First, candidates submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to show their intent to immigrate through a provincial program.
2. If selected, they receive an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination.
3. Candidates must then submit a complete application to the province.
4. Upon approval, candidates receive a provincial nomination.
- For base streams, this allows them to apply directly to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence (PR).
- For enhanced streams aligned with Express Entry, nominees are awarded 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly boosting their chances of being invited to apply for PR through an Express Entry draw.
Through these ongoing initiatives, Alberta continues to welcome skilled workers who can contribute meaningfully to the province’s growth and development.
