Manitoba Invites Skilled Workers in Latest Provincial Immigration Draw

In its most recent immigration round, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) focused on attracting skilled workers residing outside Canada who have a strong connection to the province.

Held on May 15, the draw resulted in 62 candidates being issued Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) for a provincial nomination under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream. Out of these, eight individuals had valid Express Entry profile numbers along with job seeker validation codes.

The minimum score required for selection in this draw was 626.

Only those who had submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) and received a direct invitation through one of Manitoba’s strategic recruitment initiatives were considered for this round.

Who Can Apply Through Manitoba’s Skilled Workers Overseas Stream?

This stream is designed for qualified foreign nationals currently living outside Canada but who have a well-established link to Manitoba. These connections can be demonstrated in one of three ways:

• Support from close family members or friends living in Manitoba
• Previous work experience or education completed within the province
• A formal invitation issued by the MPNP as part of a strategic recruitment initiative

Each of these pathways includes specific eligibility requirements that must be fulfilled to qualify.

In addition to having a Manitoba connection, applicants must score at least 60 points on the province’s assessment grid. The score is calculated based on five factors: education, work experience, language skills, age, and adaptability.

Understanding Strategic Recruitment Initiatives

Strategic recruitment initiatives are tools used by the MPNP to help Manitoba employers fill job vacancies that cannot be met locally. These initiatives are especially aimed at attracting international talent with skills in demand.

To participate, employers must meet specific eligibility conditions and complete the province’s ABC Recruitment process. Once approved, they can submit details of qualified candidates who meet the program’s standards in terms of age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Candidates referred through these initiatives must hold a full-time, long-term or permanent job offer and must show a clear intent to live and work in Manitoba.

Special priority is often given to individuals who plan to settle outside the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region.

It is important to note that applicants cannot independently declare themselves eligible under strategic recruitment initiatives. Instead, they must be identified and invited by the MPNP directly.
