On March 30, 2026, Newfoundland and Labrador conducted its second provincial immigration draw of the year, issuing a total of 245 invitations to eligible candidates under its key immigration pathways.
The invitations were distributed through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), both of which play a crucial role in addressing labour shortages and supporting economic growth in the province.
Draw Breakdown
In this latest round, the majority of invitations were issued through the NLPNP:
- NLPNP: 209 invitations
- AIP: 36 invitations
Approximately 85% of invitations were allocated to NLPNP candidates, highlighting the province’s continued reliance on this program to attract skilled talent.
The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) has not specified which individual NLPNP streams were targeted in this draw.
Comparison with Previous Draws
Compared to the first draw held on March 6, 2026, this round saw a lower number of invitations issued.
- First draw of 2026: 445 invitations
- NLPNP: 362
- AIP: 83
So far in 2026, Newfoundland and Labrador has issued a total of:
- 690 invitations overall
- NLPNP: 571
- AIP: 119
Notably, immigration draws began earlier this year compared to 2025, indicating a more proactive approach by the province.
Expected Nomination Allocation for 2026
Although the official nomination allocation for 2026 has not yet been released, trends suggest a stable or increased quota.
In 2025, Newfoundland and Labrador received:
- 2,525 total nominations
- NLPNP: 2,050
- AIP: 475
Given that most provinces received equal or higher allocations this year, it is expected that Newfoundland and Labrador may receive at least 2,525 nomination spaces in 2026, if not more.
How Candidates Can Qualify
Both the NLPNP and AIP currently operate under an Expression of Interest (EOI) system, introduced in February 2025.
To be considered, candidates must:
- Submit an online EOI profile
- Provide details on:
- Occupation
- Education
- Language proficiency
- Intent to reside in Newfoundland and Labrador
A valid job offer is required for most streams under both programs, except for certain entrepreneur categories.
Application Process After Invitation
Candidates who receive an invitation must:
- Submit a complete application within 60 days
- Undergo a full assessment by provincial authorities
EOI profiles remain valid for 12 months, after which candidates must reapply if not selected.
This latest draw reflects Newfoundland and Labrador’s continued commitment to attracting skilled workers through targeted immigration programs. With steady invitation rounds and expected nomination stability, the province remains a strong option for candidates seeking Canadian permanent residency in 2026.
