NLPNP Sees Biggest Candidate Invitation Count Since July

Newfoundland and Labrador conducted a new round of provincial immigration invitations this week, issuing a total of 330 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) distributed the invitations in a 2:1 ratio, with most ITAs going to NLPNP candidates.

This marks the highest number of NLPNP invitations since July 2025 and the largest AIP round since September 2025. The province did not release details about which specific NLPNP streams received invitations.

So far in 2025, Newfoundland and Labrador has completed 13 draws under both immigration programs.

Nomination Allocations for 2025

For the year, the province has been assigned 2,525 nomination spaces, divided as follows:

• 2,050 for the NLPNP
• 475 for the AIP

It’s important to understand the difference between invitations and nominations.

Invitations allow candidates to apply for provincial selection, but nominations represent the actual approval within the province’s federal quota. Some invited candidates may not complete or qualify in the final stage, which is why provinces often issue more invitations than their available nominations.

Newfoundland and Labrador originally received 1,050 NLPNP nomination spaces, but after discussions with the federal government, the province was granted an additional 1,050, doubling its allocation.

PNP Admissions Set to Rise in 2026

Looking ahead, the federal government has significantly increased the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) admissions target for 2026. The new target is 91,500 permanent resident admissions, a major jump from 55,000 in 2025 representing a 66% increase.

This rise suggests that Newfoundland and Labrador will likely receive more nomination spaces in 2026, enabling the province to welcome even more newcomers. However, exact allocations for each province and territory have not yet been announced.
