Applications which meet the requirement under the new Federal Skilled Worker category, including those with Arranged Employment, to receive a decision within six to 12 months compared with up to six years under the old system. The systems deliver final decisions for economic applicants within a year.

Before one makes an application under the Skilled Worker category the applicant must make sure that his/her occupation / profession is on the current Occupation list.

An applicant to qualify for Canadian immigration as a Federal Skilled Worker has to have at least one year continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in one of the Qualifying occupations and  should have a relevant degree or diploma to the work experience. The qualifying occupations are named by NOC (National Occupational Classification) and are based on the main duties performed.   An applicant must also show enough funds to support himself and  his dependants after arriving  in Canada.

The Skilled Worker category application is decided on the basis of points system on  the selection factors in the skilled worker point’s grid.  If an applicant scores 67 points out of 100 then the applicant is eligible for getting Permanent Residence visa to Canada.
